RE: Audition-
When launching I get a pop up "Audition can not find a compatible Audio device" Then the program shuts down. Net research indicates that this is a problem with Audition 3.0. If your results are different, please let me know how you configured your computer and software to allow the program to run.
RE: Xonar u7
I uninstalled the basic drivers and downloaded the most current setup, which includes an ASIO driver. I have been able to select a sample rate of 24/192, and then record at the same indicated resolution in Audacity, with control of gain. So far so good. How can I verify that I have bypassed Kmixer and in fact recorded at my chosen resolution ?
Thank you.
Follow Ups:
Kmixer is XP, you won’t find it in Win7.
If you are using ASIO, the whole Win7 audio stack is not used.
If you play what you have recorded, the media player will report the bit depth and sample rate.
If this is 24/192 it is 24/192
The Well Tempered Computer
I think I have bypassed the Win audio stack.
I recorded a bit at an indicated setting of 24/192 using Audacity and saved as a FLAC file.
I checked the spectrum using a free spectrum analyser- shows up as a FLAC file with a resolution of 16/192. The later is consistent with Audacity's native limit of 16 bits.
Thanks.
