Added ground plane below music ssd
External 5V supply to music hdd sound better (less coloured)
than 12V MB regulate to 5V internally.
More high temperature 'Scotch' tape used
Sounds only slightly worse than DH61DL Pentium G550 dual core on
single core VIA700
Voicing is sensitive to external 12V lab supply hf decoupling!

Very nice system...
"More high temperature 'Scotch' tape used"
I approve :)
This system below look interesting if looking for something low power. Can run on a 5V battery. It was mentioned on CA. The poster has not used it as a player yet, but I think it might be fun to try running Win Server and AO..
Don't think it will install. I tried briefly.

On the VIA? It is only 32bit? I think...
powering the OS HD with battery supply, if you get a chance to compare.
I haven't figured out how to try it in my system since OS is sitting on an M-SATA card which does not have a SATA power connector..
too troublesome for 24 7 player. Some guys use battery packs with 5V switching chip to get sufficiently precise dc voltage. Not for me.
Getting a large battery at 5V with auto charger is a big deal.
I personally didn't want to spend $150-80 bucks for a 5V Li battery "recharger" types off Amazon, but these things I found were cheap.

All shipping from USA locations!
would you get 5V out of a bank of 3.7V batteries without a switching dc to dc converter?
Of course it's all switching converters. I bought this thing to compare this switching evil battery to pure battery, but I admit I haven't actually hooked it up yet to compare. Lazy lazy. I figure if it sounds bad, I can use it as recharger battery for phone, laptop, etc.
Tell us more...OS, type of drives, power supply. How does it sound?
XP, small 220 threads; 12V lab supply with motherboard PS built in; extra decoupling to MB 12 and 5V lines; external ALW superregulator powering music ssd. MB 5V powering 16G SLC DOM on board.
sounds excellent and only a notch below the same XP on my DH61DL systems.
I enjoy following your computer build Fred. Thanks
