You skewer some unnamed "high end" streamer and call it an Android phone in a fancy shell...This type of garbage propaganda does not deserve debate.
When you have properly auditioned dozens of well designed purpose built computer audio playback devices with files of all resolutions then you can talk.

Nope, I do not. Please learn to read.
Here is what I wrote:
"I recently tested a "high end" portable audio player. It also was basically an Android Phone in a fancy shell, with a so-so dac."
So not a streamer, but portable player. And I opened it up and checked it out. It was exactly what I noted it was.
My point was not to put down this specific product, but to point out that what is presented as "pure audio device" is in reality based on generic portable computer hardware and software for most of it's functionality.
And it is hardly alone in this.
Now I do happen to think that if someone designed a dedicated Audio (File) Playback device ground up, not based on general purpose hardware and software, this could be great. But the only companies who may have the required interest (as they also have a large market share music) are happier selling Smartphones.
Small manufacturers rely on buying in solutions, be they Android based, Linux based etc. And almost invariably, when you look inside these solutions are based not only on general purpose commodity software, but also on general purpose commodity hardware.
In this case, why not get a small Linux Box or NAS and load it with MPD (can be done for < 100 USD) and use your existing Phone/Tablet as control? That is no worse in the end.

At 20 bits, you are on the verge of dynamic range covering fly-farts-at-20-feet to untolerable pain. Really, what more could we need?
I stand corrected on that point...I missed the word portable in your post. Noted, and thank you for clarifying for me.
Since there are only a few of these on the market, I can guess which one it is.
