Listening to "Knobs - This reality EP" in streaming FLAC, brilliant. Found out if you click on track info from the now playing 3 dot circle it will tell you if it is FLAC or mp3. CEO of Deezer stated 90% of most music is FLAC already and more to come. Thanks again for the info :)

I'm only into 4 days with Deezer but sometimes I hear a little harshness on some tracks, to the point of slightly preferring Spotify (???). I had read the 90% FLAC figure, so I wondered if those few tracks could have been the MP3 ones. Clicking on the 3 dot circle seems to be pointing to that conclusion.
I've read that Spotify uses OGG which is reported to sound better than MP3. If that is what my ears keep telling me, then I may subscribe to both Spotify and Deezer (life is too short). No rush to judgement with the 30 day trial. I will say that when Deezer is playing in a good recording via FLAC, I find it really pleasing.
Curious, do you hear any harshness or stridency occasionally?
All the apps should do that! A nice feature of Deezer nonetheless :)
Bullethead
Not to derail the thread but which are you liking better, the Sonos or the Bluesound. It seems like in the next few weeks to a month there will be a few companies streaming CD quality sound and I'm curious if it's worth getting one of these or just stick with my laptop and a DAC. I just got an email from Tidal and it says they will be available on both Sonos and Bluesound.
I like them both. Bluesound is better as a transport, but if I only had Sonos I wouldn't see Bluesound as a logical step up just for high res as the content isn't really there for me personally. Had I gotten the Sonos first I wouldn't have Bluesound. I was also an early adopter of slim devices then known as squeezebox and then logitech, so I've been in this game a long time. I personally am happy with 16bit, if you are inclined to use online services the Sonos has much more apps than Bluesound.
I had google music and spotify, I cancelled Spotify after signing up for Deezer, I hear harshness only on mp3 tracks for the most part, unless sometimes I do hear harshness on the "pop" tracks if that is what you call them, popular tracks on FLAC which are heavily compressed at the mastering studio, usually the nature of the recording.
I have Deezer and Google Music now and I think I am good. I didn't like Spotify, while I was a fan of Ogg back in the day it focuses too much on the midrange, the highs and lows are blended, and of course google music uses 320kbps mp3 which I don't like but I can deal with for the time being until I can find another service perhaps Qboz when it comes to the states with all the obscure stuff Google Music has. Also I've noticed Spotify carries the censored versions of popular American albums, meaning no curses, hence destroying the artform of the album. Google Music doesn't do that which is why I still subscribe to it and I like it.
I am about to give Deezer a run for its money tonight as I kick back and have a few beers. I really like Deezer, I look forward to finding some more lossless music to listen to through their service, so far I only found 2 albums that are not FLAC, but that's ok because I own the CDs of those albums.
Enjoyed Deezer a lot today.
One of my Deezer Sonos Playlists has one artist in it with about 6-7 of his albums. 1 or 2 of them are MP3 the others are FLAC. I'm thinking of making a FLAC only playlist "just" because it sounds so good but today even the MP3 was okay, I'm sure my ears/brain is helping with the adjustment.
Enjoy your tunes and beers.
