I have a GTab 3 8", just because. It's rooted and running the GalaTab ROM. Recently, a USB digital out mod was released, which can be found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2455058
Flashed that zip, and much to my surprise, it works very well with a Paridsea + DAC, which an iPad 2 and 3 flat-out refused to do.
Playing .wav's with the GTab via WiFi using Neutron Music Player is quite nice. Lauck will be along shortly to tell me otherwise, but in the meantime, does anyone know where Android hardware lies on the playback spectrum? The Paridisea seems to like being fed battery-powered data, enough so that I want to experiment more.

Hi.We've been testing the LG G2 and a friends Samsung Premium Tablet (don't ask me the model name - there are too many Samsungs out there ;) )that was released in spring this year.
We used USB Audio Player Pro, which comes with full focus on USB DACs (own driver). It passes the Android mixer by, which is quite important!
Otherwise you might have a hard time to get bit transparent data out.
Usually Android limits the volume and everything will be resampled.I tested my G2 with the iFi Nano iDSD. It was quite a nice experience.
I do think using a tablet or phone is well worth a try.Squeezeplayer - the Android squeezebox client - you can forget though.
It uses the basic Android stack/setup as most of the other Audio apps around.
Cheers

Some hints for potentially improving playback experience:1. You might try to turn on Airplane mode
2. Turn on developer options and do not allow multiple background
services.
3. Google for Audio Tuning / Mods for your device.
Usually you'll find tons of mods and patches and tuning tips.
4. Some suppliers e.g. Neutron offer a special modded version of their
app for download as .apk file. Google e.g. "Neutron Neon"

"...does anyone know where Android hardware lies on the playback spectrum?"
Huh?
There are multiple companies making multiple products with multiple models of various hardware that use the Android operating system. I'm certain that they range from utter crap to fantastic. Umm, you might want to be a little more specific.
