There are no broadcast stations I plan to stick with. I was hoping that I can find some higher sound quality options even if that means paying for them. I read that there are quite a few now that send out high enough bit-rate signals to be considered better sounding than 90% of today's FM. True statement? Thanks for the reply

There are many internet radio stations streaming at 320, 256 and 192k. The question is whether those stations play music that you want to hear. As you've probably seen, a quick search turns up a lot of choices.
I use an iFi Nano idsd dac with a laptop or iPad. It's an inexpensive solution that works really well for me. I can't say it's any better or worse than my old analog tuner. I don't remember and don't much care. It sounds good but more importantly, I'm discovering great music new to me which I wouldn't have otherwise have known about. It's brought back an element of fun that was missing from my listening.
320 kbps MP3 might be roughly equivalent to stereo FM on a good tuner, depending on reception. There are a few Internet stations that broadcast on higher quality. If you like classical music, Czech Radio has a great channel that is broadcast at 48/16 FLAC encoded, better than CD quality. They have an excellent musical library. The only downside is the announcements, which are overly loud.
