So, as a java update is downloading ( I am careful to not click their add-ins) I got stuck with:
Mipony download Mgr Pckg and
WSE Rocket
Neither of these can I get rid of by the normal Windows add/remove control panel programs. A window pops up telling me my browser needs to be closed but there is nothing running.
Any ideas would be appreciate. Sorry to be a bother.

If you can't get rid of it, try malwarebytes or kaspersky freeware programs.

I searched with Google for info on those two programs and found useful info. You can too. Some links that might help you:WSE Rocket

What browser? Some things can be disable or removed there such as add on and plug ins. You said you could not get rid of them in add/remove. Are they there on the list? If so try a restart in safe mode.

Load a previous restore?
System Restore.

SpyHunter4 just got rid of WSERocket and a bunch of other stuff. It took a while, but it is gone. My wife had even more files infected than I did, but she is on the internet all the time.
I still have not solved my "writing" error in Sony DVD Architect and I am at a loss now.

Try Control Panel to Programs and Features to Installed Updates to MiPony choose Unintall.
Did you try restarting, or even shutting down completely?
I've shut down twice and when that didn't work I restarted twice and they still sit in my list of programs.

Try to System Restore your PC to a date previous to date that these things found the way
on to your computer. I would then run a full security scan before attempting to uninstall any
programs.
When you are able to uninstall programs, try to get rid of any other "non system" programs
with the same date as the 2 that showed up in your program list. At some point I would also
suggest downloading a fresh version of Firefox or IE .
I'm currently running Microsoft Security Essentials on my laptop , but I try to limit the amount
of "browsing" on it. I use my iPad (which I'm using now), for that. If I were using a single purpose PC I would use a more "serious" security program like Kaspersky.
Hope my suggestions helped.
I use MSE as well and I did a restore prior to that date and they are both still there. I stopped doing all social media, ie. FB and the like, but Java is awful about icons you have to unclick to not install it.
I'll just leave then there for now I guess. Thanks for all the suggestions.

I hearya , & feel your pain ! I don't know what the "deal is" w/ Java related problems these
days, but they appear to be widespread !Just how many of our programs are using Java & is it even realistic to try to find replacements not using it ? Sure would be nice if Java started operating a bit more socially
responsible ! (Crap !!! Java may look up my email address & send me some more "malware" for spite !)
