Something the average five year old can do. And Google as well, since the the pic you posted of the error message has all the info you need regarding the nature of your problem.I'd be reluctant to call someone an "idiot" after posting this:
"As of now I've spent two hours trying to get my FUCKING WINDOWS MACHINE TO LET ME RENAME A FILE.
I've tried anti-virus software, registry edits, safe mode, even an aftermarket file manager.
Zip. Nothing. Nada. I have to FORMAT MY HARD DRIVE AND REINSTALL ALL MY PROGRAMS IF I WANT TO RENAME A FILE.
Thank you, Microsoft. May I have another."
Booting a live Linux disc will let you fix some file system issues like this as well, usually, but you seem to have more fun doing it the hard way.

Let me know when one of them lets me see my stuff by directory. Does that exist yet?
Like old File Manager?
If that doesn't exist, it should!
I love the old school ways. Big fan of command line.
I would have thought you would have the opposite issue in Linux, a plethora of file manager style viewers and not as many graphic style music viewers.
Coding opportunity!
I am running a VortexBox/Linux music server controlled by iPeng running on iPod Touch or iPad. iPeng has several display options, but I don't know if it can display directory structure.
