Cause no one has ever had problems with windows before.
I guess you're unfamiliar with google.
Try 'windows explorer stops' sometime.

It's not your file names.
My Mac Mini running Mavericks has far more issues, and requires a restart at least every 10 days due to a spinning wheel. All diagnostics report zero issues. Mac OS does not blow, but it is WAY overrated.
It's Steve Jobs (RIP) way of telling you that you should not have purchased that non-Apple software application for your Mac.
I use an old Mac for an audio streamer and noticed just like Windows one poorly behaved application can wreak havoc on the stability of the machine.
what are you running Mavericks on? I have it on my MacBook Air and it's been pretty solid. Not perfect but works much better than any of our Windows machines.
I do not have Mavericks loaded on the Mac Mini or MacBook Pro.
you're just in the minority

I never said 51% of people using windows had problems.
But I'll bet its at least twenty per cent. That is millions of people.
As of now I've spent two hours trying to get my FUCKING WINDOWS MACHINE TO LET ME RENAME A FILE.
I've tried anti-virus software, registry edits, safe mode, even an aftermarket file manager.
Zip. Nothing. Nada. I have to FORMAT MY HARD DRIVE AND REINSTALL ALL MY PROGRAMS IF I WANT TO RENAME A FILE.
Thank you, Microsoft. May I have another.

You might consider not using a computer for audio and go back to using CDs and a CD Player. Stick a CD into the drawer and hear the magic.
You must have the file open in another program of locked...
Try...
I've tried this in safe mode after a reboot.
I've also tried to do a system restore.
Guess what?
'windows was not able to restore your system for some unknown reason'.

This is actually impossible...
I never had such an issue and I do a lot of computing and computer repair. I'm no Microsoft fan, I don't like them at all but do see it as you do. I use a tag program on my old XP machine which is my music server to set/name files right so my SB III shows them properly. I always seem to run into issues with Various Artist CD's. Good luck.
