I just set this up for evaluation. I thought you guys would enjoy seeing the Totaldac d-1 Monobloc:

To my ears, some of the best, most realistic, palpable music at the Munich hifi show last year came from the total dac room.
Of course, that wasn't only because of the dac.
system was: server-> totaldac d1-> engstrom =engstrom lars type 2 amplifier-> tune audio anima horn speakers/pulse subwoofer
that was some exotic stuff, cost no object, ergonomics and WAF be damned.
I didn't stay long enough to suss out any weaknesses though.
Interesting gear for sure but I'm on this kick to try and keep it simple. More boxes, more space, more cables, more clutter. But I'm not saying it wouldn't be nice for someone else.
I don't often agree with one of the posters in this thread but in this particular case, I too think it could benefit from a facelift. That DAC set looks kinda like they were popped out of meatloaf pans. ;-)
It might be more attractive. :)

I'd enjoy it a lot more seeing it in my home system... ;-)

At least we see a decent noise floor on the graphs the manufacturer provides, -160 dB on the spectrum plot. Not sure what the actual numbers are as they will depend on FFT gain of the particular FFT used to calculate the spectrum. (FWIW my usual FFT has about 40 dB of gain, which would leave the noise floor at -120 dB or about 20 bits. A true 24 bit noise floor in my plots would be at about -180 dB.)
Given that the manufacturer's web site provided two plots, it would be nice if it also had plots of high level tones so that distortion might have a chance to poke its way above the noise floor and so that noise modulation could get a chance to rear its ugly head and get caught.

Looks really ugly. For their prices, they need an industrial designer!
The sound may be different though.
