I would be interested in an answer to the original question which was -Digital Front End to consider besides SB Touch ?
Not bothered who contributes, without salesmen there would be no product and it is easy to filter their contributions out if required.

"without salesmen there would be no product "
For a few weeks I worked for a company that believed exactly that! That company bought our company and the first thing they did was fire the engineers because they were expensive and don't contribute anything to the bottom line. They doubled the sales force because they sell product. I left with the engineers and within a year that new company HAD NO PRODUCT TO SELL because they were no longer competitive in the marketplace. It turns out the engineers actually create the product!

If there'd be one I probably had it already. ;)
IMO LMS must be the base. That leads to following alternatives:
You can run iOS/Android devices (4.1) as frontend with LMS player apps.
Next iPeng 1.6 will deliver 24/96 via USB on iPAd. Or you can use Pure I-20 dock. I'm waiting for my Sony Tablet Android 4.1 update. I'll then should be able to use my Sony tablet S as transport feeding an USB DAC.
Enjoy.
P.S: I do think you miss some background about the awful sales/marketing
discussion. You don't even get the message.
All this is ongoing since years.

I do get the message, I just don't care.
Manufacturers are taking a reputational risk by posting on here and if they are found out then it is their pocket that get's hit.
From what I have seen they make valued contributions and it is a leap of imagination to think they are hoping for increased sales by posting here.
"Manufacturers are taking a reputational risk by posting on here and if they are found out then it is their pocket that get's hit."
That's a very vaild comment.
"From what I have seen they make valued contributions..."
You're subscribed to the forum since April this year. I do question that there have been many - if any - value contributions recently.
Of course "value" is a wide term. Some people feel thrilled by just talking to the grand master himself, who desgined and built their beloved baby.
However:
There is still a phrase I have in mind from a couple of weeks ago. I'll never forget that.
One of those manufacturers came up with the real face after a similar discussion.
Guess what he said??? "...Leave us alone...".
How stupid can a manufacturer be to risk his reputation (related to ethics), which might even have an impact on his overall business.
Within 5 minutes they could sign up for a vendor section and nobody (you might call me "nobody" ;) ) would care anymore.
All those "valuable" contributions would even end up at one place and would easily be trackable. You can't do better (marketing) than that. (Assuming, you have something to say!!!)
Enjoy.
