Many thsnks Ryelands for the great advise. It solved the problem. For guidance of others with the same problem, I have in the picture above demarked the hacked settings with red rectangles. cMP and cPlay now fit well into my 7" 16x9 monitor (Liliput UM-70). The settings reflect that it was necessary to reduce not only the height but also the width a little to fit the screen. For cPlay I therefore narrowed the field showing numerical information immediate left of the close button. This is ok for me but alternative solutions are possible of course if one wants the original readability of the numerical field retained. The settings forms are also to high for the screen and it is necessary to move them upwards as much as possible to see just the upper edge of the buttons at the very bottom, but the most important buttons are in that way reachable. I can live with that, but if one wants to hack these forms too, look after Dialogs 131 for cMP and 142 for cPlay.

Hi Ingvar & Ryelands,
Figured out how to use Resource Hacker and change the layout. When saving, Resource Hacker asks about to "compile" the new settigs. When OK it ask me to "save under"....so what to call this file and how to implement new settings ???
kind regards

Hi play-mate. Change the setting(s),compile, and if you are happy with the result, save it. The original file (cicsMemoryPlayer.exe or cicsPlay) is overwritten and you also get a saved copy of the "original" file (i.e., the status of the file before you saved). To be sure the changed files will work, let them retain their original names.

I can add that there was quite a discussion on this topic that will be buried deep down in this thread. You can move buttons around to suite your screen layout. Some inmates reported an improvement in sound by removing buttons that you do not use or need. Might be worth digging through the last year to find the reference.
I have not used it for some time and cannot remember the file save details. I just remember it as saving as you do in any of the other resource hacks. It makes a backup for you in case you need to back out your edits.

It's slightly different when editing the likes of a window layout rather than just deleting crud - you need to recompile the file first then save it.
As you suggest, I thought there was a slight improvement to be had from deleting stuff from cMP.exe and cPlay.exe though I didn't do it for sonic reasons, didn't listen with great care and might have been imagining it. Whether others found the same, I can't say.
Dear Forum,
I can report that the adjustment of screen size works fine with Resource Hacker, but discovered a problem with the alphabetical order of the album list.....it just shows albums in (random) order.
Any ideas to correct this ?
kind regards

Resource Tuner works without causing this problem...as previously reported.
I encountered this problem which I reported here:

I don't get the problem because I don't use cMP's UI but some others did and, IIRC, got round it by using alternatives to ResourceHacker to edit the cMP exe file. I think it was asylum member Riboge who reported both the problem and the solution. Try a search or hope that he sees this . . .
