This was poorly worded on my part:>> People are entitled to play their games here and others are entitled to blow the whistle on those games. <<
I was intending to refer to posters in both instances, not posters in the first instance and moderators in the second; and I was thinking of trollers. In other words, that people who troll should be prepared to get called down for it by others.
I agree that if a person "can't stand the heat," he/she should "get out of the kitchen" but, at some point the rest of us don't want to hear that kind of squabble. It just drives people away. And at that point, it ought to end or move to private e-mails, it seems to me.
A discussion can only go to a point -- either an agreement is reached or areas of disagreement are identified. When it goes beyond that point, people just calling each other names, unless they are very clever and witty, it's just not entertaining for anyone else. So, that's where I think it ought to end.
If people want to be totally unmoderated, they can go elsewhere. But if they think the people around here have something to say worth hearing, they can stick around.
BTW, I'd rate the chances of this forum continuing in any form at about 50-50.
regards
Bruce
