Barack Obama cautioned a stunned public on Friday against drawing quick conclusions on a shooting rampage by an officer at a Texas military base that killed 13 people.
The president made the comments as the commander of Fort Hood, the US’s largest base for deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan, quoted witnesses as saying the suspected gunman, Major Nidal Malik Hasan, shouted the Muslim declaration “Allahu Akbar” – God is great – as he opened fire. Speaking at the White House, Mr Obama said: “We don’t know all the answers yet, and I would caution against jumping to conclusions until we have all the facts.”

"Live free or die"
And they aren't apologizing for the man.
I'm sure that alone will upset some liberal whacko, ... Oh well.
Another figment your over-active imaginations. What a bunch of sick fucks.

We all know your response if the story line was about a Christian man that went whacko at an abortion clinic, slaughtering folks and yelling out "God isgreat".
You wouldn't be bringing up the Bill of Rights :)
Better start packing.
You might try being specific. Unless you are serious about concentration camps. Btw, incarcerating millions of women and children is insane.
Please.
You never said what the fuck you meant. If you meant anything, which I doubt, beyond generic bitching, that is.

You weren't happy with the response from my family member who WAS THERE.
As I stated earlier, you wouldn't have brought up the Bill of Rights if this had been a whacked out Christian fundie who shot up an abortion clinic.
Your response would have been much, much different.
I wonder why?
for you as well?
Your response here seems to place some import to this alleged declaration, but I don't see you spelling it out very clearly. Not like Jazz did yesterday.
But I wonder how it gets us closer to understanding [if we ever will] what actually happened to motivate this man to do what he did....like our continuing ruminations over 'Columbine' and all the rest.

I've been outspoken here when Christian fundie whackos pull similar scenarios. Check the archives. What triggered Dennis was the "liberal whacko" statement in my first, original posting. He took it personal and I apologize for that.
As for what triggered the Major, I bet that even his family can not answer that. He did yell out, “Allahu Akbar” – God is great – as he opened fire.
Why would he say that?

That is the question, but to conflate any specific details of the incident would most likely mislead us and prevent any rational examination of it.
And get us NO closer to understanding anything.

"...all the facts"
You mean like he did when his buddy Gates had his run-in with the cops in Boston?
My guess is that they are going to every effort to prove that they could not have predicted this man's actions, even to the point of altering the evidence.
But this is stupid, predicting "dangerousness" on an ex ante basis is not exactly a science. The alternative is (was) to lock up anyone you thought had the remotest chance of being violent. The US Supreme Court declared this practice as unconstitutional in the 1970s, precisely because there was no evidence to support these predictions. But of course some of the people who were released from institutions after this ruling did commit violent acts.
So, who do you lock up to feel safe? Statistics suggest that the least violent people are white, college educated, females, followed by white, college educated, males.

But, you know, you can't hang someone for big talk. If so, late would be history.
Anything wrong with a President learning from past experience?

He was saying that we don't need people creating boogie men. The bastard was a Muslim loner who went postal; no more. No al Qaida; no sleeper cell. If we're going to blame any group, blame the fucking Green Machine for reverting to its typical institutional stupidity in ignoring the flashing neon "time bomb" sign he's had over his head for the past eight years. There are 5 million Muslims in the US and if just 1% wanted to make trouble, we'd have a horrendous situation. They don't and we don't.

too bad you are too stupid to take it!
So far we have heard that the shooter was killed, that there were three people involved, now he's alive and the two additional people in custody are no longer suspects.

are you hoping he will be found innocent?
I don't think so!

from his comments.
Unfortunately your REACTION is not particularly surprising though.
I don't understand the harm of rational and intelligent, evaluative thought before deciding which is the best action. But I have noticed that simplistic reacting often turns out to make me look foolish..... or worse.
Even if the first impulse often seems right, upon further examination, I discover something that changes everything I thought I knew.
