Which speakers are you running with helium?BTW,very nice setup..
Are you running quads outdoors?
Some people like second order distortion in their tube amps, some people like honesty in their tube amps. I like honest!
Follow Ups:
The Quads outdoors was just for an afternoon with friends, I don't plan to employ the quads in my system until the boards are updated, they really did surprise all of us that day', largest soundstage I had ever experienced, I'm sure it was due to limited reflections no ceilings or walls, and they had no problems playing at high levels.
Not sure about your comment about (helium).?
Before heading back to the oilfields I aquired a pair of Pilot S-102 speakers that were made in 1958, they were offered as a companion to a stereo console from the same year, the control cabinet held the amp, preamp, tuner and turntable as well as speakers for one channel and the companion acted as the other. Being that there was no other components in the companion cabinet it is aproximatly double the air space as the control unit. I put the 2 companions in my dining room and powered it with the rebuilt OTL-4... Those speakers are unbelievable!!! I had just prior moved out a pair of Von Schweikert VR-4's that were quite impressive with the amp but in all honesty the Pilot S-102's did everything better, who'd a thunk it?
Needless to say I can't wait to get back home next spring to put some serious time in listening to the combination.
