Dear Inmates,
Have you ever dreamt of getting out the very best of single ended and circlotron topologies in an OTL amplifier?
Well, I think that I was so lucky in my life to having apparently succeeded in this 'mission impossible'.
This is the conceptual schematic that I am proud to share with all the inmates of the audioasylum.
It requires only one HT voltage and it exhibits the same simulated performance as standard commercial circlotron (no even harmonics at all, predominant third armonic at high level).
In the next posts you will find some snapshots of the currents in the -speaker/coupled inductances/anode common resistor- and the simulated output spectrum @ 330 Hz.

...this is NOT a circlotron circuit at all - it is just a differential cothode follower amp.
A circlotron by using two independant powersupplies allows the speaker outout to float free of any bias levels - this doesn't.

The simulated output spectrum is exactly the same as the simulated output spectrum of standard circlotron.

The coupled inductors in the schematic (L1 & L2) may be made of a cheap toroidal 110V/110V (1:1) - 150 VA mains transformer.
No saturation of the core will ever occur as the bias currents cancel each other.
Red curve: anode resistor
Blue curve: speaker load
Green curves: L1/L2 1:1 coupled inductors

It's been done before - and the problem is about 3 times the output impedance compaired to a circlotron !

Even though I could comment that cathode resistors have a quite different electrical behaviour w.r.t. to a transformer (i.e. coupled inductors) I must admit that, after a deeper investigation, the 'novel circlotron' topology is not able to exhibit a 'decent' simulated performance.
My interest for it has hence gone.
