Sorry, I have no idea about Klemperer in this, but like you, I have recently picked up my first copy of Bruckner's 7th. However mine is Carl Schuricht conducting the Hague Philharmonic Orchestra on the Nonesuch label. While I have nothing to compare it to, and I am sure there are better interpretations, I did enjoy the music very much. The spiritual feeling of the first three movements (at least that's what I get/got out of it) and the struggle expressed in the finale between the strings and the brass. Sort of the old Venniese(sp?) School of classical music on one hand, vs the new Wagnerian sound (represented by the tubas) on the other. So, even if Klemperer ain't the best, enjoy it regardless. Play it LOUD, play it PROUD...but keep your eyes open of others. What's the sense in having only one of anything you like anyway?
