Some people don't consider the work to be top-drawer Rach, but I love the teardrop piano filigree towards the end.
Follow Ups:
Kempf has some good tracks - I'm hopeful. I already have the Bekova sisters in the Rachmaninoff on Chandos.
1st mov't. Oh well, noce to have anyway.
I already have the Tchaikovsy with Trio Wanderer.
. . . They're BOTH nicknamed "Trio elegiaque"!
And, actually, THIS is the recording I already had (i.e., the one on Hyperion) - I DON'T have the Chandos album with the Bekova sisters. So, between us, we've put out a lot of misinformation on this thread! ;-)
BTW, I'm listening to the Kempf Trio recording of the Tchaikovsky right now as I type this. Excellent so far! (Haven't gotten to the Rachmaninoff yet.) The only other recording of the Tchaikovsky Trio I have is the early digital one with the Suk Trio.
