When I was very young I always thought he had a very romantic sounding name. Especially for the UK where we had the likes of Adrian Boult and John Pritchard.
There are a couple sets available or available soon, one on Warner and one on RCA.

Why are these two works so unjustly neglected? I especially love the E-flat Symphony (No. 1), and Pretre conducts a very fine performance of it!
I've somehow managed not to hear Pretre's most recent recordings however. In any case, RIP.

I'll have to cue up my ancient Angel LP of him conducting Poulenc's Les Biches in remembrance. Enjoyed his work.
