This was recorded in DSD 256.
It's available in 4 different formats at 4 different Download Sites.
Only Native DSD had the DSD 256.
24/96 at ProStudio Masters, 24/192 at HD Tracks.
SACD available at Reference Recordings. My first impression from 24/192 was that Pitts has a deep narrow hall, same impression I got from earlier Strauss SACD.
It's like listening down a long hallway. Will get DSD 128 Version today, no Quad DSD playback available here.
SFS Debussy in 24/192 is great, very open and unfettered sound.
Will use for comparisons along with Channel Mahler 9 and Tchaik 6, very fine recordings in DSD128.Thinking about a Moon Dac that does DSD 256.

and get the Tone poems Download ( I have the SACD).
The SFS Debussy just sounds Great to me,
but I was having a DAC Shoot-out that day, and wasn't really getting the Love from either DAC.
I'll listen on my main system, w/HAPZ1.
The Z1 smoked both the Mytek 192/DSD and Lampizator Euforia, on my Den System, first time I'd compared them all together in the same system with the same files.
Definitely some wasted money there...
I was surprised to know the Tone Poems were recorded and mixed/mastered in DSD64, and DSD 256 for the Strauss!
Strauss' music is So intricate and streamlined, a real genius of harmony and orchestration.
Just listend to Death and transfiguration. I love this work and this is a very powerful performance. Very forward sound like all the Soundmirror recordings of the Pittsburgh symphony. I don't hear any hallway effect
Alan
I don't hear any hallway effect but, in multichannel, the concert hall's influence is clear.

So many conductors fail to make them sound natural.
The sound is excellent and transparent, but Boulez/Cleveland (Sony) is a much livelier performance with sound that's still good.
I have no reference for your comments-
If I like the Music and sound of the Orch on a given recording, whatever the Conductor does is OK with me.
If a recording or group doesn't make it for me, then the other stuff is lost on me, I'm afraid...
I'm guessing you've listened to a lot more Classical Music than me.
Chris, Ivan , and well, a lot of others too.
I choose Orchestras more than Conductors
