And I'm still looking for alternatives that I might find to be equally engaging. No luck so far.
My hi-fi system is so wonderful that I would love to find Brahms' symphonies more exquisitely recorded but at least equal to Walter's realization. Suggestions please...

I subscribe to a few streaming services so I can do a pretty deep search of the classical catalog and find what I like, then spring for the CD/SACD or even download.One of my favorites, among modern recordings, is the above. Available in SACD which is a plus.
But again, tastes vary and so on....

though early digital, they're reasonably warm.
I'm incapable of "unhearing" Furtwangler's 1st and 4th. They're plentiful on Lp, Music and Arts CD's are a class act, and Pristine offers them in 24 bit.
Sturm and Drang! Didn't care for his 2nd and 3rd though.
