If you want to hear some heart-warming flamenco try out the link below. One of my favourite "feel good" tracks.... never fails to give me a wide grin. I'm tempted to say that if you don't respond to it you're tired of life.... But we're all different.
I like:
Manolo Sanlucar
Tomatito
Diego del Gastor
Sabicas
Ramon Montoya
Diego del Gastor is a total sleeper. Well off the beaten track but I love his feel.

Thank you for that link. Lovely player with a kind of classical sensibility woven into his playing.
Your recommendation also made me think of Sanlucar, the place. Nothing to beat a hot afternoon sitting outside one of the restaurants alongside the Guadalquiver with a glass of cold manzanilla. A little way further up is Bonanza where apparently Columbus set off to discover somewhere or other.
. . . way, way back (in the 60's or 70's), and the interviewer asked him, "Who's greatest guitar player alive?", and he answered, "De La Plata" [sic]. ;-)
Could be. Old "Silver Hands" used to appear on UK TV screens quite a bit in those days so Keef would have had lots of opportunity to see him.
Imagine, flamenco guitar on general family show TV spots. Not just this but any TV variety programme could include acts like Erroll Garner, Oscar Peterson, Yehudi Menuhin or Yehudi Menuhin with Stephane Grappelli. Friday night on the BBC? An hour of Andre Previn and the LSO. Too dumbed down these days to expect that again.
