lives alone. ;-) Ligeti in general and the violin concerto in particular are headphones music for me, or I'd soon find myself sitting out on the curb. But I did listen to the Ondine -- an energetic performance to say the least.

Actually no, but even if I did, most of the music is soft and gossamer, as to a beefy Tchaikovsky or Brahms concerto.
Bizarrely, this is the second download that required absurd volume increases just to hear the solo violin at the opening. Though unlike some BIS recordings, the loudest parts are still tolerable.
I new engineering trend, I guess.
