Led the interest in folk music for my generation and inspired so many; Seeger,Weavers, Kingston Trio Baez and Dylan....Also an excellent musicologist. He established weekly free concerts at the Copper Union Great Hall.
Follow Ups:
I used to listen to him and Cynthia Gooding on the radio in the early '60s. That's what nurtured my love of folk music and I know I'm not alone. We had several albums of his Bawdy Songs and Backroom Ballads. I have some of his live stuff from Newport at that time.
He cut a wide path. He'll move on to a good reward.
Amen!
