I've been trying to interest my granddaughter in music beyond cartoon movie songs and the pop music her parents play.
Yesterday, I held her hostage for the afternoon and played the My Fair Lady DVD when she asked for The Princess Bride for the 11th time. This is also a princess story I told her.
Much to my surprise and elation she sat, wormed, squirmed and questioned (but her eyes never left the screen) for the entire 3 hours then was singing bits of "The Rain In Spain" on the way to dinner. I'm kvelling!

Next time, try West Side Story or Oklahoma or South Pacific! See what
happens!
Can you guess?
Also excellent, and better than my suggestions above, as the tunes are
catchier and easier to remember. I think Mary Poppins has some decent
tunes too, doesn't it (been decades since I've seen it).
I completely forgot about Buddy Hackett!
Then there's that rap tune that opens the whole thing....
