Was worried early HIP playing would be ridden with clunkers. Imho perfect combination of clarity, buoyancy and warmthSo enjoyable I'm looking out for their Matthew's Passion.

The van Veldhoven/Netherlands Bach Society recordings of Bach b minor mass and St. Matthew Passion are wonderful performances on SACD that sound great in multichannel or stereo. I much prefer them to any of the Harnoncourt recordings.
I also like the ones from Rilling (Hanssler) and The Dunedin Consort (Linn).
