Thanks for the link. I have always loved the way WS plays, particularly on the soprano. He still has a very distinctive voice. I was amused that he mentions Mozart a couple of times because he is correct about his music. I hear all sorts of syncopation in Mozart, walking bass lines, and other elements that are at the heart of jazz. He also mentions the chord clusters that make me think of Tyner and Cecil Taylor. I heard them just the other day in "Iberia" by Albinez. Now I have to listen to Dameron since Wayne references him along with Tyner with respect to the chord clusters. I am thrilled to understand how much these musicians learned from one another, experimented together, and expanded the musical language of jazz.
