It is only partly the chore. The lack of information eliminates the motivation to do so.

So complaining about his post in a post you made and then replying to its follow ups took less effort? I dont think so. Oh Kalman! The name was there just none or almostvnone of us know who they are.

You would solve all these problems you are having with this and other posts like it. The OP is just fine. Your whining about it is just noise.
The whole freaking internet is based on a 'click on this' mentality and I, for one, would like to know WTF I am clicking on and where I am going when I do.
So, when I want to share a YouTube video, I embed it in the post so folks have a freaking clue what they are clicking on and where they are going to end up.
We know GEo and we know there is no danger in clicking on his links. Yes, of course he could post links as you do. He could also say in the text who the artist is on the other end of the link. Seems pretty clear to me he doesn't do that on purpose for dramatic purposes. Like opening a gift on Christmas. If it bothers you so be it. I actually like the way he does it.
we are free men. Well, supposedly.
But then again, if we were all robots programmed to do the same thing that might make life simpler for some.

Everybody here except first day newbies knows what GEO's posts are about. He's got 7 similar very recent posts alone, and of course many others over the years since Kal and Ivan have been here. If either Kal or Ivan has *ever* responded to any of GEO's posts previously I can't find it, and that includes posts where GEO clearly states what he's linking (see my link). Why the hell they're suddenly so interested that they bring up this NON-issue is beyond me.
It is entirely possible that I have not responded to any of GEO's other posts and, honestly, I do not have any recollections of him or associate him with any particular topic. This time, I opened his post because the title indicated substantial enthusiasm. What I found made no sense to me and the only way to find out more would be to follow the link.

that draws eyeballs. Maybe next time.
how to properly post a link. ;-)
Can't be THAT difficult, can it?
This episode seems unlike you, and Kal too. Ya know, I've never embedded a video I've linked either, and in the almost 15 years I've been posting not one single person has complained about it.
the person who opens the post has the option of playing the YouTube video then, or playing it later.
When you just post a link, with NO description as to what it is or where it will take one and that link is to YouTube, when you click on said blind link, you open the YouTube video and it commences to PLAY. PLAY over any other music you MIGHT be streaming from the computer you are using, playing throughout the house, in some cases, if the computer you are using is part of your main system.
I prefer to see what the video is about and decide for myself if and when I wish to play it.
And yes, when posting links, the link URL goes in the 'Link URL' box and the Optional Link Title goes in the one below. ;-)
You cant embed on Android devives including tablets Chrome doesnt support flash and the android Youtube app does not allow embedding. Puffin browser supports flash but doesnt allow embedding anymore or even quality change.

Not much of a fan of anything to do with Google including Chrome.
That is actually part of it....a little levity and some drama. Jazz musicians have it rough. Part of the point of my posts is that if a person makes a little effort, he/she may discover something and be surprised. There is more to jazz than Kind of Blue / Giant Steps / Sunday Night at the Village Vanguard / etc.
In fact, I always have. And I have never complained about your posts, and wasn't going to. Nevertheless, if I had a vote, I would choose you give a couple of sentences of background in addition to the link, since you obviously know so much about these musicians. I think that would better serve your apparent goal of introducing people to some excellent but lesser-known jazz people.
That's your call, of course. Either way, I don't see the point in an angry debate over this.
Thanks. I may add some more info. Most of the time it is on a whim....
Thanks again Ivan. What do you think of the music?
that when I am posting here from my laptop all I get is the sound out of my crappy laptop speakers. :-(
Yep. Instant information age. Not motivated enough to click on a link but motivated enough to execute far more key strokes to make mention of no mention of a name and ask who is it? No biggie. My title was "Another Emerging Talent"....the link revealed the name and a performance. Both provided information, no?
