I've read he was so much against recording that all microphones, cables, etc. had to be hidden from view when he was on stage.
You're right........Richter "said" he didn't like recordings, but Slava was a complex personality....a true contrarian! He was like the classical equivalent of the Grateful Dead...........he was recorded live thousands and thousands of times. Devoted fans would follow him around the world taping him constantly.
