Gorgeous, subtle and sultry music.
Follow Ups:
The Chandos is a far more luminous recording.
. . . the Reference Recordings version. Was this Ricci's last recording? If so, that would certainly be "autunnale". ;-)
Of course, my current fave is the J-Fi 24/96 download, even though it's only two channels:
This recording is also "autunnale" in the sense that Kreizberg died shortly after it was made. I'm not sure if it was his very last recording though.
My "deeply moved" Respighi's is his Il Tramonto (The Sunset). I don't understand Italian and did not check the verses but the music itself made good mood for a sunset scene.
I first heard this work in a Westminster LP by Jurinac with the Barylii quartet, deeply moved, as said.

There is also the wonderful Baker sings this work with orchestra instead of string quartet accompaniment. But Baker's Italian is somewhat distracting to me.

One can find Seefired and von Otter's recording on YouTube but Seefried's voice is too bright and healthy for this work and Otter's came with a not so devoted accompaniment. So I stick to Jurinac's at present.
. . . of a poem by Shelley. I've played it once in my life - in college about 40 years ago! - but I've never owned a recording of it. I've also seen recordings of this work by less well known (but perhaps not less accomplished) singers! ;-)
A poem by Shelly, that's new to me, and it is quite intriquing that Baker can not sing it in English for it may become odd to hear English voicing together with Respighi's instrumentation.
I will find time to listen to those less well-known ones. Thanks!
