I was surprised to see Jazz on in prime time. I can't recall seeing so many Jazz performances in prime time since the death of the variety shows of the Golden Age of television. I would hope this would become an annual event like the Kennedy Center Awards. I would hope that if there are future repeats of the same that the time would be extended.
The performances were all stellar. However, the editing was somewhat disconcerting. In some cases the the performances were cut short for commercial timeouts. Overall, it was a welcomed change to the live prime time music performance to the likes of mediocre lounge acts (The Voice, American Idol, etc.). I can only hope with the advent of home theater we can see more quality musical performances in prime time.
I recorded the show and plan to watch it again. There was mention during the show that more was available online, but I haven't been able to find the performances via Google. When I have a chance to see the recording again I will post a message about online access.
