And (darn it!) I won't be able to go hear it. The location is Weill Hall at The Green Music Center at Sonoma State College - far from the madding crowds of San Francisco and the rest of the Bay Area. You all know the rap on Yuja - oh sure, she can play the showy stuff, but she can't deliver the "spiritual profundities" of Mozart and Beethoven. Well, here's a chance to see for yourself if you agree (assuming you live nearby). I'm so mad that I won't be able to see the concert, because I have high hopes that Yuja might be one of the few pianists now alive who has the poise and technique to convey actual expression at Beethoven's optimistic (or notorious!) indicated metronome markings for this Sonata. I at least hope she'll be able to make a recording of this Sonata while she still has the technical chops to handle it.

I have no doubt that she will convey some sort of expression. The question is, what type of expression, and would Beethoven approve?
He's still standing and applauding after tonight's recital in Santa Barbara.
I'll be able to confirm tomorrow as to whether I'm truly unable to attend on Friday.
Great! Hope you can make it
I do. You still have my number?
I will be on the road and won't be able to check emails. Either way I have the ticket so you are in. if we don't get in contact before the show I will leave the ticket at will call
I might have an extra ticket for that show
I'm going to all three recitals in California. Santa Barbara, Soka and Weill hall. I just saw Murray Perahia play this at Disney Hall a couple days ago.
By the way Yuja's Mozart concerto #9 was IMO absolutely sublime.
