I don't see a problem with this. I think David Geffen was the ideal choice to conduct the Geffen Philharmonic. And once Geffen Hall is done, they can start work on the Statue of Geffen out in the harbor.

How crass - on both ends!
During the heyday of the Charles Finley years (as owner of the Oakland A's), Finley offered pitcher Vida Blue tens of thousands of extra dollars (i.e., beyond his contract) if he would change his first name to "True". At least Vida had the gumption to tell Finley that he'd would be happy to do so if Finley would also change his first name to "True". Needless to say, Finley didn't take up Vida's offer!
EDIT: Looks as if I've been had. I checked the rest of the site (which I should have done originally) and it's a humor site - a kind of Onion of classical music. I took it seriously. As Governor Perry once said, "Oops!". ;-)

I was going to write WTF until I read the article....funny.
Now when that doesn't actually happen, Geffen will probably call van Zweden a malcontent.
Just like Trump lost Iowa--because the more people saw of him, the less they liked him.

i swear, i can't go ANYWHERE online these days without having to read politics!
Funny, wasn't Alan Gilbert a violinist in the Harvard Orchestra?
Far better than having an ex-tympanist for a conductor, IMHO!
