Everything on that list was on radio program "Folk Alley's 100 Most Essential Folk Songs."
So, you can argue with people who spin folk music for decades. But as far as the folk music collections of Izzy Young, it includes traditional but also contemporary folk music.
Personally, if Izzy Young said it was folk music, I'd go along with that. And if Folk Alley says it is folk music, I'd go along with that too.
But it's okay to hate folk music if you want to.

When it comes to real American folk music, you have to appreciate the great job the late Pete Seeger did in his series for the Smithsonian. Even the best known, most-performed standards known by every American child (though not these days, I suppose!) got respectful and accurate yet appropriately folksy treatment.
