I always enjoyed this soundtrack. I never tried to analyze why, but I like your description. I like the music and like the movie, who wouldn't, with dialog such as this?
Father: Son, what is best in life?
Son: The open steppe, a fleet horse, falcons on your wrist, to feel the wind in your face>
Father: WRONG! Conan, what is best in life?
Conan: To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of the women.
