This came by way of a friend on Facebook who is into this kind of mash-up music - but I would presume that this takes people a lot of time to construct and blend together in a pretty seamless way.
If you watch all the way - I enjoyed his notes on the "formula" just after all 6 songs are played simultaneously.

12 bar blues, classic rock, Motown, even lots of classical stuff if all from around same era. Maybe not jazz so much. I don't like country pop, but really I don't think it's so musch different from any other "pop" era.
I notice the same thing across most pop genres today. Just don't have the technical skills to prove it.
