Gabriela Montero (born May 10, 1970, Caracas) is a Venezuelan pianist, known in particular for her real-time improvisation of complex musical pieces made "on the fly" on themes suggested by her audience and other sources, as well as for performances of standard classical repertoire.
There are several albums on Tidal. Sample them and tell me what you think. I really enjoy her improvising.

I enjoy Fazil Say's many improves.
She's a good pianist who has carved out a niche for herself. She spent some time in the inner circle of (and got a boost from) Martha Argerich. Montero's popularity (IMO) derives from her ability to communicate with and interact with an audience, giving them something to do more than just sit quietly and then clap at designated times. Audiences feel a stronger connection with her, so she is a good "popularizer" of classical music.

Good to hear a newish language in improvising. It's not revolutionary in any way, and there are precedents like Brad Mehldau. You can hear the Spanish influence which is nice.
After a while, though, it seems like an awful lot of notes - kind of Rachmaninov gets hip. OK in concert, but I don't think it stands up to repeated listening. But then improvisation is the sound of now, so why does in need to?
I see she's got a new CD with standard repertoire but I always enjoy her lively improves better.
