There's a famous photo of Leonard Bernstein listening very closely to Charlie Haden's
Bass when playing w/Ornette.
Ornette wrote a lot of great tunes, too.
OC was a genius for finding & hiring Charlie Haden, IMO.

Listened to The Avant-Garde last night, was remarking with some friends about how strong his presence was without having anything to do with the record! Hard to overstate is right.
