But the Vanessa Benelli Mosell recording drought will be over next month (at least in the UK, per Presto Classical) - and on the Decca label no less (rather than on Brilliant Classics). What? You don't remember her? Well here's a little memory tickler to get you back up to speed:
I'm already getting excited about the new release, not least because Stockhausen is one of my fave composers - not! But as Stockhausen himself said (before he died), "she has the ability to make people like my music"!
Of course, she's still remained in the Italian gossip columns during this time:
Anyway, here's a sampling of the forthcoming album:
Yup. . . this video really gives you a burning desire to listen to Stockhausen!
But Vanessa has been busy in other ways too, such as demo-ing the Pleyel Peugeot model piano. If you haven't seen this piano before, prepare to be amazed:
Here, I must observe that I'm not sure she has the "measure" of this instrument yet: from what I can tell from the YT video (and that's always a roll of the dice - but I listened on my larger system too), it's kind of a shallow sounding instrument (compared to other pianos), despite the stunning visual interest. Nevertheless, with the new Decca release, I know you'll be as excited as I am about her - this is what classical music needs! ;-)
p.s.: I almost forgot - it appears that the new recording will also be available as a 24/96 download too. No resolution too high for Vanessa!

True terror is to wake up one morning and discover that your high school class is running the country.
quote by Kurt Vonnegut
Circa 1970 when I was an undergraduate student, I attended a New Years Eve party at the home of married friends whose toddling son was sleeping in his bedroom, while good LPs of jazz and rock were spinning in the background.
The child was sound asleep until -- ridicule dictu -- one rude guest played a recording of Stockhausen. The little one woke and began to wail. He wanted mommy to stop using her vacuum cleaner!
Stockhausen: don't try this at home :)
Can you source, give me some context, or define that phrase for me please? TIA.
As in the image of Rumor in the "Aeneid". . .At once Rumour runs through Libya's great cities - Rumour the swiftest of all evils. Speed lends her strength, and she wins vigor as she goes; small at first through fear, soon she mounts up to heaven, and walks the ground with head hidden in the clouds. Mother Earth, provoked to anger against the gods, brought her forth. . . swift of foot and fleet of wing, a monster awful and huge, who for the many feathers in her body has as many watchful eyes beneath - wondrous to tell [mirabile dictu] - as many tongues, as many sounding mouths, as many pricked-up ears. By night, midway between heaven and earth, she flies through the gloom, screeching, and droops not her eyes in sweet sleep; by day she sits on guard on high rooftop or lofty turrets, and affrights great cities, clinging to the false and wrong, yet heralding truth. Now exulting in manifold gossip, she filled the nations and sang alike of fact and falsehood. . .

Thanks. Clever indeed. I've read the Aeneid, studied classics in college, and thought the OP's use reminded me of something. But who was the clever re-user? The OP? Google turned up nothing for me. Maybe my age is working against me here. Thanks for taking the time to respond to my post.

I personally haven't been able to warm up to Stockhausen. Just my opinion, of course.
which is a personal Fav, to music for Flute and Shortwave Radio,
String Quartet and Helicopter, which use Noise in a disagreeable way.
The Suite for Vacuum Cleaner is a Classic…

no one can cut the sander part.
I have an arrangement of the Rite of Spring for Sax Quartet and Snare Drum.
Same problem, Snare Drum Part it just too darn difficult…
you could go thru a whole fucking box of sandpaper and still not find a piece that sounds good.
I once heard Buddy Rich try to play that snare part. He fucked it up 'cause there was no bass drum on every beat to guide him.
Only One, but he has to have dozens to choose from…
What are Bad Reeds made from?
BumBoo.
Sadly, Ill be here all week!

Never mind, I'm Reeding too much into it…
the Lightbulb joke cuts a little too close to home.
Thank You for sharing -
Stockhausen can be appealing
Happy Listening
