Bob Parlocha has been the late show on Jazz FM91 for decades, the only night Jazz show anyone remembers, and I subsequently learned that he was covered world wide for his excellent programming, absolutely top notch.
I believe some of the old hands can explain that Bob was the last of a small few top fm jazz dj's, so his passing officially ends an era.
Follow Ups:
An honorable mention and in the same vein as BP, "Jazz after Hours" w/ Jim Wilke. This gentleman is very hip to old/new Jazz and provides many many stories/references like BP.
Our hope is that someone is ready to carry on BP outstanding works.
They have Joe Sealy ... always reminds me of BP ... he's even got the BP voice thing going ... but he does a weekly, few hours?
Joe Sealy
... not like Bob, Bob was a machine, just unreal.
From JazzFM91 ...
Bob Parlocha, the long time host of Jazz With Bob Parlocha that has aired in the overnight slot on JAZZ.FM91 since its inception in 2001, has died of a heart attack.
...
For the time being, archived episodes of Bob's show will continue to air.
Since adding Bob to our family, his calm, knowledgeable presence has been a fixture on the Toronto jazz scene, he will not easily be replaced.
Bob Parlocha
Impossible actually ... I hope they just keep him playing, work backwards for a few years, then a few early years.
Damn. Love his show and have been listening to him for the last 5 years.

May he Rest In Peace and enjoy rubbing elbows with all the other Jazz Angels.

Was BP still recording his shows circa 2015?
