I remember when this fresh face appeared! Time flies.

thanks.
We saw Bobby Watson ~10 years ago at the Telluride Jazz Fest with Horizon Reassembled. He hung with crowd the entire weekend and sat in with several other acts. Seemed like a genuinely nice guy.
We have seen him twice since, sitting in with Wallace Roney's band at the Blue Room at KC's American Jazz Museum and more recently in Denver.
He is running the Jazz program at the UMKC Conservatory now, I believe.

Another guy that has been doing it for a long time. A very nice guy.
Never heard of Bobby Watson before. Terrific stuff!
Already looking to dive into his catalogue, thinking of maybe picking these up: Love Remains; Soulful Serendipity; Round Trip; and Present Tense.
Two that I would say are must haves are Love Remains and Post Motown Bop. Beatitudes would be on my short list as well and then take your pick. Bobby makes feel good music.
Just speared a used copy of Soulful Seredipity. Will go for your recommendations next.
...and a young Roy Hargrove to boot!
iTunes didn't have this track, so I grabbed up the title track to Love Remains. Killer ballad. Thanks!
This guy isn't a household name, so he may qualify as unsung...
Love Remains is a modern day classic now.
And thanks to your post, it's a classic for me as well! Keep up the good work.
