I have been watching this program called unsung and it has motivated me to bring different artist to a wider jazz audience. A smoking rhythm section and a hell-a-fide video.

...and one of my favorite tunes...
Not exactly a shabby group.
That's a close second. There's just something about Harbor Freeway 5PM that floats my boats.
The Atlantic LP with a different, faster version is good as well.
Yes sir! Very much under the radar.
Keep up the great jazz posts. Lately, things have been too under the radar jazz-wise around here!
Sax got a little too out there for me. Help me out, here, please, with a recommendation for any Onishi or Blade CD's. Her solo here is amazing and the drummer is crazy good. Thanks,
Tom E

I used to hear drummer Brian Blade and bassist Chris Thomas back when they were students here in New Orleans in the late 80's. Brian is now acknowledged as one of the greats through his well known work with Wayne Shorter. Chris seems to flit in and out of the music world, but I believe he still performs in Brian's solo projects. Both are amazing musicians, but then their are so many unsung jazz heroes . . .
Yes indeed. Many fail to realize that there has been more jazz recorded from 1975 to present than the period covering 1955 to 1965.
Yes, and I have recorded some of it myself. The results sit on a big shelf in my living room!
