I have an update on the piece I mentioned too: "Laudations" by Max Stern (another composer on your list). We did three performances of it in late September and early October - but only one of those performances included all five movements. I'll repeat the composer's description:
These five miniatures of blessing and thanksgiving draw upon vocal music, traditional chants, songs, meditations and prayers from Jewish communities in North Africa, Italy, Jersalem and Eastern Europe, evoking praise and glory, sovereignty, blessing and thanksgiving.
As I mentioned before, it's instrumented for an unusual combination: piano, cello, and bassoon. As you can imagine from the description above, it's very tonal (or, perhaps I should say, modal) and audience friendly. Other than that, I still feel as if I can't assess the work this early, since we experimented with various tempos and balances, and we certainly haven't finalized everything yet (gotta have some spontaneity ready!). One odd aspect of the notation is that the composer indicated breaths (luftpausen) in various places, but these breaths are not coordinated among the three parts, so, sometimes, we ended up taking breaths in all three parts when only one part had a breath indicated, although we were not consistent about this. It seemed to work OK, but I'm still not sure if we needed to be taking extra time for some of these breaths. We have another performance coming up in January/February (the cellist and the bassoonist have gone back to Munich right now), so we may perform it still differently at that time!

Obviously, not me at the piano however. :-)
Tried to check out some clips on Amazon, but none of that piece available. Might not be recorded.
