I like the whole set of Beethoven symphonies, but the fourth is my favorite of them.
Great recording, on all fronts
The quintessentially "French" Carmen. Recorded in 1950 or so, in sound that wasn't particularly good, even for the time, but still worth it for the fantastic performance.
Probably his best known opera recording. A classic. (sorry about the crummy box)

Thanks for the recommendations. I looked into the Faust recording and some lp's I found were stereo and other versions mono. I assume same recording but thought you may have input
There is a mono one, from 1953, and a stereo one, from 1958, both recorded by EMI. The three leads are the same, but the rest of the cast is different. The mono one is common in the US on RCA LM 6400, the stereo one was issued in the US on Angel. I have not heard the mono recording, so I can't speak to that, but I like the stereo one a lot.
