Maybe the music is closer to his heart (and mine) but the SB rendition of Danzon No 2 is one for the books. Check the YouTube of the proms from a few years back. I saw him playing that program in San Francisco about the sme time as the proms video, also with the SB.
It had energy, youth, and eye candy. Oh those Venezuelans are sure pretty. The recording of the Firebird is also one of my favors.

Rare undoctored video of the Simon Bolivar Youth Orchestra..... It was uploaded by the conductor of the performance.
The Simon Bolivar (youth) Orchestra is really an amazing orchestra. The sum is much greater than the parts. Unlike most if not all other world class orchestras, the Simon Bolivar build from the ground up within their program. Almost none of the individuals in the orchestra would ever make it onto any of the other internationally acclaimed orchestras. It is a truly national orchestra from a country with virtually no historical tradition of classical music.
That's what I said, young and energetic with beautiful appearance.
