I am actually surprised at the quality of the music and audio supplied
by Brilliant Classics, especially their boxes.
I was given the Beethoven 85 cds box and was more than pleasantly surprised by the general quality on offer.
I am now able to dispose of lots of my Beethoven cd's collected over the years as the choice of material in the Brilliant box is superior to what I had. I am so impressed that I am thinking of buying the 170 cd's Mozart box. Does anybody knows about the Mozart box.

the complete string quartets of Villa-Lobos. This is a surprisingly strong set of quartets; everyone should at least sample a few.
Why not?
I have the original Dorian set and thought it a bargain at twice the price.
I do have the Villa Lobos box, it is excellent, and the audio is superb.

for a friend and he's very pleased with it.
Whilst I have not heard it but my Barshai's Mahler 5 from this label sounds excellent. ( I am sure the sound quality varies by the release, tho )
I am curious which CDs did your Beethoven box set replaced?
I only replaced about 20 % of it including the Barenboim symphonies
and the Alban Berg string quartets
But I am really impressed by the high standard of 90% of the box.
I have only listened to a small part of that box set, but, I found it to be quite good. It appears to be the case that particular performances are decent examples, not just the cheapest music one can get permission to use.
Seems they deleted some of the boxes - the Russian pianists are listed for silly prices.
