could not find that explanation, only along with several articles, she played as principal or co-principal viola in BPO. this article says BPO is the "supreme" group in the world or words to that effect.
Follow Ups:
From your linked article (second page):So off she went to Germany. After her second year there [in Berlin], though, she was still experiencing too much social isolation.
"The culture shock never eased," says Dennis. "Even rehearsals were hard because I didn't speak German and the players didn't speak much English and there was no balance in my life." So when she inquired of Salonen if the L.A. invitation was still open, he welcomed her with open arms.
my article seems truncated, none of that text included.
Maybe you can resend it back to me??? Strange.
dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb...never missed those page numbers before. Thanks for pointing this out.
In any event, we remember her playing the Mozart Sinf Conc K 364 with another somewhat unique violinist, and will probably see her again.

btw, our CYMO has an appearance at Disney Hall this season. First rehearsal is tomorrow. I am anticipating and hoping my kid gets to move up in seating, but whatever. There are plenty of supertalented (Asian) young people coming up yearly.
Our former concertmaster is at Eastman. Here is the present one.
