Interesting! Only know some of of his Mahler which is straight forward but now well recorded to my ears. Thanks.

I agree with you on much of the Mahler set (I haven't listened to all of it yet).
His Beethoven symphonies and Concertos (Bronfmann, Tetzlaff, and the triple concerto as well) are spirited modern readings with a few unusual variants. They are vigorously played and have good sound. The symphonies have more character (and better sound) than Vanska's, are less rushed than Chailly's. Also, the Zinman recordings are plenty cheap. I lucked out and bought this box (which includes all of the Zinman stuff and much more, most of it in excellent performances, for about $30:

Thank you: Oddly the rice has gone up....I am sure the Bronfmann piano concertos must brilliant also...Was really cheap once...
The Beethoven box has gone up inb price, but the single disc of the Missa Solemnjis (Zinman) is still cheap on Amazon and elsewhere. So are the piano concertos with Bronfman. All of these are cheapest on the Arte Nova label (typically $5-9 US per disc).
THANK YOU...
