Check out their insurance policy costs. My wife and I saved $800 by switching from a standard Hartford Insurance policy through an agent to the AARP Hartford Insurance policy. Unless you have multiple, complex policies that require constant oversight and updating, it doesn't hurt to give them a chance. Another plus is that the card can often be used for a discount at airport parking lots.

But, keep an eye on their auto costs. I switched to the AARP insurance about 5 years ago from State Farm because they were almost $400/year cheaper. Then, every year the rates went up until I decided to call State Farm again this year. Now State Farm is $400 cheaper than the AARP program. I switched back.
Bottom line, you should keep an eye on the rates for a few good companies every year.
