Good ol' Norman Lebrecht. Too bad Pavarotti has passed away. We could see shirtless pictures of him on the beach.
Follow Ups:
Lebrecht's offense here seems to be that of publishing Mordecai Shehori's letter.
I guess we need to ask what is more newsworthy, an artist who spends his career destroying the careers of other artists or one who marries his girlfriend's adopted daughter?
Neither one is newsworthy at all. Gossip is entertainment, not news.
How are either "gossip?" Seems to me the accusations against Stern are far more serious and significant than tabloid gossip. I'm sure it was to the folks whose careers were affected by it.
marry his ex-girlfriend's adopted daughter.
The main difference between news and gossip is not that gossip is always false (though it is often grossly distorted) but that it concerns matters that may be of great importance to those directly involved, but not to the world at large.
Isaac Stern's alleged behind-the-scenes maneuvers may be fun for some of us to chat about now, but are at best a tiny footnote in the history of the American music business (some would argue all of classical music is a footnote). The personal lives of Woody Allen and other Hollywood stars is always a hot topic, but let's be honest, of no real relevance to the rest of us. And don't take that as meaning I approve of his personal life.

"Mordecai Shehori was born in Israel and studied in Tel Aviv with Mindru Katz, whom he cites as his most influential teacher."
NOT
and he 'chose' to use his influence to destroy the careers of many fine musicians, and yes, some of those he 'chose' to destroy were Israeli.
